The very first sip ensures you that you’re the part of their family. Cape May Winery’s journey started in 1989. Currently they grow 11 different varietals across 4 vineyards covering 26 acres. In 2003 Bill Hayes sold the winery to the Craig Family. Toby Craig and his daughter have worked hard to create a special vibe and ambiance at the winery. The focus to detail love for wine starts with Toby and Betsy. In 2014 the winery produced 40,000 gallons which is equal to 197,333 bottles of wine. In current date this winery is the 5th largest producing winery in New Jersey. Cape May Winery’s farmland surrounds over 150 around Cape May.
The farmlands are also home to tomato plants, beach plums, zucchini, and kale in addition to the grapes. These seasonal ingredients can be found on the menu of the tapas kitchen, which launched in 2018, and which Chef Mike Siegel has designed to go with each of the wines. Chef Mike anticipates adding additional unique menu items and activities to the winery calendar, such as pop-up dinner series. Even though we don’t host weddings, we make a fantastic location for smaller, more private gatherings like a rehearsal dinner. The kitchen provides a new dimension to the winery and will naturally develop with the visitor experience, which is how Craig envisions the winery.
